Got my iPad last week. Geeklove. But seriously - real books aren’t going anywhere for a while. So what if Amazon sold more e-books than hardbacks in the three months preceding July? If film photography is still alive in this digital age, books have a lot of life left in them yet. You know they brought back Polaroid, right? Hands off my paper…
Having said that, could you imagine an alternative future in which books drop out of the mainstream and become fetish items like vintage cameras? Where they represent a “technology” that’s outmoded and yet simultaneously desirable to those who have the money and inclination to chase after vintage/retro items?
Hm. I feel a sci-fi story coming on…
