Lots
Quick post: I’m back in London again, trying to negotiate the shift in perspective that always accompanies the return from any extended period of time away. I’ll admit, it took me a good week or so to get into proper holiday mode, but I finally came to appreciate that it wasn’t about keeping on top of incoming messages, monitoring Twitter, drafting blog posts, or doing any of the other work I didn’t have time to do when I was on home ground. On return, Nicholas Bate style, the keyword is LOTS:
- lots of email to sift through
- lots I want to do now I’m back
- lots of photographs to post
- lots of the world left to explore (bitten by a bug for travel - where to next?)
- lots of energy to put to good use
As a nominee I had my fingers crossed last night, but congratulations to Sam Riviere, who was awarded the Felix Dennis Forward prize for Best First Collection, 2012. Roll on Aldeburgh. Two nominations for the same collection can’t be bad…
